Orlo is a drawing app for children. It is built to need nothing from you.
Nothing.
Orlo has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no crash reporting, and no third-party SDK of any kind.
It never asks anyone's age. How big the squares are is chosen by tapping a picture of the three sizes, and that choice is the only thing recorded about it.
Nothing.
After the page has loaded, the app runs entirely on your device. Once it has been installed, or added to the home screen, it works with no network connection at all. It makes no request to any server we or anyone else controls. This is checked automatically before every release: our test suite plays the whole app through and fails the build if a single request leaves the app's own address.
A few small values, kept in your browser's local storage so the app remembers where you were:
orlo.progress — the highest level reached, which of the three steps of each level have been cleared, whether sound is off, and which square size was chosen.orlo.locale — whether you chose Italian or English.orlo.ui — which of the two interfaces you chose, if you changed it from the one the app ships with.orlo.quaderno — the notebook: one short record per pattern finished, and per sheet saved. Each record holds only which pattern it was, which of the three steps, the colour, the square size, and when it was done. Patterns you invented on the free sheet also store the lines of that one pattern. No picture is ever stored: every page is drawn again from these few numbers when you open the notebook.orlo.notebook — the free sheets you saved, so you can reopen and change them: the lines of the pattern and the colour, nothing else.orlo.endless — your own best number of repetitions in "Endless" mode, per pattern.orlo.iosHintDismissed — whether you closed the "add to home screen" hint. These never leave the device. Nobody else can see them — not us, not another person using the app, not another device you own. There is no account to sync them to and no server to sync them with.
Clearing the app's data, clearing your browser's site data, or uninstalling, deletes them permanently. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing for us to delete on request and nothing for us to hand over if asked.
The notebook can also be emptied from inside the app, in the grown-ups' area behind the arithmetic question.
The grown-ups' area has a "Report a problem" button. The app does not send anything. It writes an email for you and opens it in your own mail app; you read it, change it if you like, and send it — or close it and nothing happens. There is no server behind that button, no web form, and no fallback that posts anywhere. If you have no mail app set up, a "copy the details" button puts the same text on your clipboard and the app still sends nothing.
Because you are the one composing and sending it from your own mail account, this is you writing to us, not the app collecting anything.
You see the whole message before it opens. It contains exactly this:
It contains none of your drawings, nothing from the notebook or a saved sheet, no times or dates of play, no name, no address, no account, and no identifier for you or your device. If you want to show us what went wrong, take a screenshot yourself and attach it: that picture is yours, and you decide what is in it.
Patterns made on the free sheet, and every page of the notebook, are kept on the device only. There is no export, no upload and no sharing.
You can print the notebook, using your browser's own print command. That happens entirely between your device and your printer: the app builds the page locally from the same few numbers it draws the screen from, and nothing is uploaded, rendered elsewhere, or seen by us. If you would rather keep a page as a picture, take a screenshot — that picture belongs to you and never passes through us either.
Orlo is designed for children aged roughly 6 to 8, and is usable by a younger child at the largest square size. Because it collects no data at all, there is no personal information of a child — or of anyone else — for us to hold, share, or sell. There is no chat, no messaging, no way for users to contact each other, and no user content visible to anyone but the person who made it.
There are none. Orlo has no ads, no ad network, no in-app purchases, no subscription and no currency. It is free in full.
